What Year is My Golf Cart?

Posted by Andrew Kephart on May 14, 2023

Determining the year of a golf cart is essential for various reasons, such as maintenance, purchasing, or selling. There are a few methods to help you identify the manufacturing year of a golf cart. Here's a concise guide to assist you:

Club Car:

  1. Serial Number: Locate the serial number of the Club Car golf cart. It is usually located on a metal plate affixed to the frame, often near the passenger side glove compartment or the driver's side kick panel. The serial number will consist of a combination of letters and numbers.

  2. Decoding the Serial Number: Once you have the serial number, you can decode it to determine the manufacturing year. Club Car serial numbers typically follow a pattern. From 1981 to 2000, the first two letters indicate the model, followed by a two-digit number representing the manufacturing year. For example, if the serial number starts with AA0234, it corresponds to a 2002 model.

EZGO:

  1. Locate the serial number: Look for the serial number of the EZGO golf cart. It is typically located on a metal plate or sticker affixed to the frame. Common locations include near the passenger side glove compartment, the driver's side kick panel, or under the seat. The serial number is a combination of letters and numbers.

  2. Decode the serial number: EZGO serial numbers have a specific format that allows you to determine the manufacturing year. The structure and decoding method may vary depending on the manufacturing period. Here are a few common formats:

    • Pre-1976 models: The serial number may consist of a letter followed by five or six digits, with the first two digits representing the manufacturing year. For example, a serial number starting with B72 would indicate a 1972 model.

    • 1976 to 1980 models: The serial number may consist of one or two letters followed by four or five digits, with the last two digits representing the manufacturing year. For example, a serial number starting with J7601 would indicate a 1976 model.

    • Post-1980 models: The serial number may consist of one or two letters followed by a combination of numbers and letters. The manufacturing year is typically indicated by the letter or digit at a specific position in the serial number.

Yamaha:

  1. Locate the serial number: Look for the serial number of the Yamaha golf cart. It is usually located on a metal plate or sticker affixed to the frame. Common locations include near the passenger side glove compartment, the driver's side kick panel, or under the seat. The serial number is a combination of letters and numbers.

  2. Decode the serial number: Yamaha serial numbers follow a specific format that allows you to determine the manufacturing year. The structure and decoding method may vary depending on the manufacturing period. Here are a few common formats:

    • G-Series (pre-Drive) models: The serial number may start with a G, followed by a two-digit number representing the manufacturing year. For example, a serial number starting with G16 would indicate a 2016 model.

    • Drive (G29) models: The serial number may start with a J, followed by a two-digit number representing the manufacturing year. For example, a serial number starting with J14 would indicate a 2014 model.

    • Drive2 models: The serial number may start with a JW2, followed by a letter and a two-digit number representing the manufacturing year. For example, a serial number starting with JW2-3B would indicate a 2018 model.

We hope this helps you determine how old your golf cart is! Please contact us if we can help further.
